Three Contexts, One Platform: Lectures on Contemporary Art History in Iran, India, and Pakistan.

Contemporary art history is often told through a Western lens, yet parallel movements, responses, and revolutions in art have flourished across other regions of the world, shaped by their own unique cultural, political, and historical contexts.

This event brings together three voices from ASP Wrocław to present alternative, interconnected narratives in contemporary art:

Leila Moosavi (Iran)Astitva Singh (India), and Aqeel Abbas (Pakistan) — all PhD students and practicing artists — will each give a 20-minute lecture exploring the evolution of contemporary art in their respective countries.

While rooted in different histories, each of these stories is deeply shaped by moments of global connection, colonial impact, cultural resistance, and artistic transformation. These lectures aim to open a space for reflection, curiosity, and dialogue, where non-Western art histories are not treated as marginal, but as essential threads in the broader fabric of global contemporary art.

The session will be introduced and moderated by Agnieszka Bandura, who brings together these diverse perspectives under one shared platform for exchange and learning.

Join us as we explore three contexts, with one shared purpose: to listen, to connect, and to expand how we understand the history and future of contemporary art.
