We invite you to the opening reception of an exhibition by students from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville - Haley Takahashi and Zoe Brester-Pennings. The exhibition will be presented at the Sztuka na miejscu Gallery.
Haley Takahashi is a Japanese-American artist whose work focuses on combining contemporary printmaking techniques with traditional Japanese imagery, symbolism, and artistic practices. Through her work, she seeks to understand her identity as a person of mixed heritage, as well as her family history, while emphasizing the importance of confronting the past and the future as a way of inspiring social change.
Zoe Brester-Pennings uses milk as a central medium in her work, employing self-portraiture to convey ideas of beauty, discomfort, impermanence, and to humorously question notions of femininity. By presenting alternative versions of herself, she challenges these concepts while exploring themes of hyperfemininity and sensuality.
