Aqeel Abbas, The Shifting Gaze: Home / Elsewhere

How does your perception change when "home" becomes "somewhere"? How does the gaze change when the borders become fluid?

Visual artist Aqeel Abbas, originally from Pakistan and based in Poland, explores the relationship between space, culture, and the creative process in this exhibition. Through oil painting, mixed media, and biometric methods (EEG and gaze analysis), his works investigate how attention, aesthetic preferences, and artistic decisions transform as we move between places and identities.
Part of the project "The Shifting Gaze: Home / Elsewhere", the exhibition invites the public to reflect on how our place influences our perception and artistic identity.

Aqeel Abbas is a recipient of the Jerzy Grotowski Scholarship 2025 and a doctoral candidate at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław, Poland.
