From 5th to 8th October our Academy organized a welcome week for students from abroad.

Participants of the Erasmus+, MFA exchange and a representative of the doctoral school had the opportunity to get to know Wrocław better and establish contact with other students who have just arrived to our city.

During the welcome week, students:

- got acquainted with the topography of the Academy buildings,

- got to know the team of the International Cooperation and Promotion Department and Erasmus+ Programme Coordinators in particular fields of study,

- participated in intensive workshops on intercultural communication together with the staff of the International Cooperation and Promotion Department

- took part in a day-long guided tour of Wrocław,

- visited the National Museum and the Historical Museum in Wrocław,

- got to know the history of the city from the perspective of the river, during a cruise on the Oder,

- tasted traditional Polish dishes.

WELCOME WEEK opening the 2020/21 winter semester to foreign students was exceptional this year due to special security measures taken due to the pandemic.

- The epidemiological threat also affected the number of students. This year, our Welcome Week was attended by only 10 students, although in previous semesters the number was as high as 50. Nevertheless, we decided to prepare this week for them with the same commitment as always. Right now, in the face of a pandemic, our foreign students need to get to know the university even better and the people to whom they can turn for help - says Kinga Bacewicz from the International Cooperation and Promotion Department -'The fact that foreign students have decided to come to Poland proves their independence, but also the reputation of our Academy abroad. We hope that even in such uncertain times we will be able to provide them with constant access to teaching and the necessary support.

The activities within the framework of Welcome Week were implemented within the NAWA WELCOME TO POLAND programme. The WELCOME TO POLAND programme is financed by the European Social Fund within the framework of the Operational Programme Knowledge, Education, Development, an out-of-competition project entitled Improvement of competences of academic staff and the potential of the institution in accepting people from abroad - Welcome to Poland, implemented within Measure 3.3. Internationalisation of Polish higher education, specified in the application for co-financing of the POWR.03.03.00-IP 14/18 project.
