Summer Workshops at the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA).

The Department of Interior Architecture at the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) is organizing two week-long summer workshops (3 ECTS credits) for students of interior architecture, architecture, design, crafts, fine arts, and related fields. We warmly invite students from partner universities at the BA, MA, and PhD levels to participate.

The application deadline has been extended to May 15, 2026.

1. Spatial Design Summer School at the Opinion Festival

  • Dates: August 3–10, 2026

  • Location: Paide, Estonia

The Opinion Festival is a meeting place for all layers of society, providing a platform for different worldviews and aiming to improve debate culture and civic education. This hands-on workshop will focus on the festival’s food area in the Paide city square. Students will explore functional design by constructing seating and lounging environments, weaving together wood with existing materials from the festival’s warehouse.

2. Interior Architecture Symposium: TALGU TALK

  • Dates: August 24–30, 2026

  • Location: Muhu Island, Estonia

This workshop focuses on modes of collaboration, inviting participants to explore the boundaries between architecture, design, and construction through hands-on collective work. Talgud is a traditional form of cooperation from the pre-digital era, involving the community in large-scale tasks like harvesting or building.

TALGU TALK brings together 30 local and international participants for five days of collaborative work (including furniture making, sauna renovation, and restoring building common areas). The school concludes with a two-day international symposium themed: "How will we work together?"
