Open Call: Encounters with Drawing. Five Dimensions of Drawing.

The Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław invites applications for the intensive international online courses Encounters with Drawing. Five Dimensions of Drawing, delivered within the SPINAKER – Intensive International Education Programmes, funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) and the European Union under the FERS programme.

The courses are addressed to students of Polish and foreign higher education institutions interested in drawing and experimental practices in painting and drawing.

Application deadline: 14 April 2026 (noon).

Dates and format – online:

  • Course 1: 16 April – 18 June, Thursdays, 10:00–13:00 (10 sessions)
  • Course 2: 17 April – 19 June, Fridays, 10:00–13:00 (10 sessions)

Please note: Participation requires full online attendance during all workshop sessions.


About the courses

Encounters with Drawing. Five Dimensions of Drawing is an intensive international programme aimed at exploring the universal values of a work of art through various drawing techniques, with a particular focus on figure study. The course is intended for Polish and international students interested in drawing who wish to develop their skills both theoretically and practically.

The course will be held online and will include 30 hours of instruction, divided into 10 sessions, each dedicated to a different issue related to drawing techniques and working with a model.

Classes are led by an international team of artists and researchers, including:

  • Traian Boldea, PhD (National University of the Arts, Bucharest, Romania)
  • Alexandru Rădvan, PhD (National University of the Arts, Bucharest, Romania)
  • Alicja Pruchniewicz, PhD (Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław, Poland)
  • Jarosław Grulkowski, PhD (Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław, Poland)

Who can apply?

The open call is addressed to students of Polish and foreign higher education institutions.


Funding

Participation in the course is free of charge.

Required documents (scans):

  • Declaration of participation in the project (Attachment no. 1)
  • Personal data form (Attachment no. 2)
  • Signed GDPR clauses (Attachment no. 3)
  • Portfolio (PDF, 5 works from the last 3 years)
  • CV (max. 1 A4 page)
  • Document confirming student status, e.g. student ID with validity date or a certificate from the home institution

Applications will be evaluated by a recruitment committee.

Results will be sent by email on 15 April 2026.
