Artistic Glass
In 1986, I graduated in the specialization of Artistic Metalwork at the State High School of Fine Arts in Wrocław. Between 1988 and 1993, I studied in the Department of Glass at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław, receiving my diploma with distinction in 1993 under the supervision of Professors Zbigniew Horbowy and Małgorzata Dajewska. From 1994, I worked as an assistant in Professor Zbigniew Horbowy’s studio (now Professor Małgorzata Dajewska). I obtained my PhD in 2003 at the same academy. From 2006 to 2008, I served as Head of the Department of Glass. In 2008, I was appointed Rector’s Plenipotentiary for the expansion of the Academy in the field of Glass Department facilities, including the construction of a mini glass furnace. From 2012 to 2016, I again served as Head of the Department of Glass at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design.
I work in glass sculpture and design functional glass objects. My preferred medium in sculpture is optical glass, which I shape using cold-working techniques. I focus on original formal solutions, based on a deep understanding of the material’s properties and technology. I reduce my formal language to clearly defined small-scale forms, often repeated in color contrasts and conceptually varied series.
