Joszczuk-Brzozowska Antonina
I am a graduate of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław. I completed my diploma at the Department of Glass, in the studio of Prof. Zbigniew Horbowy and Prof. Małgorzata Dajewska. Since 2009, I have been professionally affiliated with my alma mater. In 2016, I was awarded the degree of Doctor of Arts. Between 2017 and 2020, I served as Head of the Department of Glass at the Faculty of Ceramics and Glass.
In my artistic practice, I focus primarily on glass objects and installations. I am interested in what is difficult to accept, unconscious, forgotten, and alien. My work addresses themes of transience, fear, and the realm of the subconscious. I work mainly using kiln-forming and hot glass techniques.
While working within the same material, I seek to reveal its dual nature — both its beauty and its more challenging, less easily accepted aspect.
I have participated in numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including: Poland’s Vibrant Glass Scene, Glass Museum Lette, Coesfeld (Germany, 2024); Ireland Glass Biennale (Ireland, 2023); recipient of the Mette Bielefeldt Bruun Prize, The International Exhibition of Glass Kanazawa (Japan, 2022); Have We Ever Dreamt About It?, The Italian Glass Week (Italy, 2022); Let’s Meet in Better Times, Venice Glass Week (Italy, 2021); New Glass Review 38, Corning Museum of Glass (USA, 2017); Beyond Control — solo exhibition, BWA SIC Wrocław (Poland, 2017); IV European Triennial for Ceramics and Glass, World Crafts Council, Grand Hall of the Anciens Abattoirs of the City of Mons (Belgium, 2016).
My works are held in institutional collections, including the Achilles Stiftung Glasmuseum in Hamburg (Germany), the Karkonosze Museum in Jelenia Góra (Poland), and the Cultural and Conference Centre in Kecskemét (Hungary), as well as in private collections in Poland, Belgium, Germany, and the United States.
