Ludwiczak Beata

I gruaduated from the Silesian University in Katowice (English Language and Culture); in 2017 I obtained the doctoral degree in the History of Art Institute at the University of Wrocław.

In the Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław I started working in the Foreign Languages Insitute, where I am currently employed as a senior tutor. After a couple of years I started conducting research into the language of art and design, so that the students could receive practical and needs-oriented education. In effect I created an English coursebook for students of interior architecture and design entitled “Design English”, and in 2009 won a grant to have it published (from the Scholarship and Training Fund, the so-called Norwegian Mechanism).

The idea of helping students make use of the language knowledge gained during my classes guided me when I created the International Relations Office of my home Academy from scratch. For many years – as the Institutional Coordinator for the Erasmus(+) Programme and International Relations – I co-created the international policy of the institution, laying the foundations for its current foreign activities.

The research of the language of design took me to writing a PhD dissertation in the area of history of design. Now as an associate professor – faculty member of the Department of Design – I support it in research and teaching. My research interests include semantics in design, service design, as well as history of Polish and British design.

I am the author of the English name of the institution: „The Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław".

My motto is: „Teaching is lifelong learning" (Rowena Reed Kostellow).
