Biographical note

Artist, designer, academic teacher at the Department of Interior Design

at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, where since 2012 she has led the Interactive Spaces Design Studio, also known as the Laboratory of Mindful Design. In the period 2013-15, a member of the design team of the Thematic Spaces Department at Expo Milano 2015. Working at the intersection of visual arts and engaged design, she is the author of numerous spatial installations and artistic interventions as well as interactive objects. She advocates new paradigms of design oriented towards empathy, criticism, speculation and social mission.

Participant of numerous exhibitions and artistic residencies organized both in Poland and abroad. She has presented her works in Bozar in Brussels, at the 13th Media Art Biennale WRO in Wrocław and at the Zachęta National Gallery of Art.

  4. Finalist in the competition for a research position working for the Department of Thematic Spaces at Expo Milano 2015, under the guidance of the Design Department of the Politecnico di Milano,
  5. Scholarship of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for Outstanding Young Scientists

Characteristic of the projects and research in which the PhD student is to be subsumed

Research in the field of broadly understood design, land art and related artistic practices of a critical, speculative, social, ecological or participatory nature. Conducted in the spirit of combining the PhD student's professional experience with interdisciplinary knowledge acquired through consciously conducted experiments, they will require the ability to combine creative strategies with theoretical achievements of other disciplines. Consequently, the future doctoral student is expected not only to have proven artistic and design knowledge, but also a broader perspective on the problems of contemporary creative practices. The student must be able to perceive new paradigms of design resulting from socio-civilisational changes, and have a preliminary knowledge of contemporary methodologies in this field. The processes preceding the final result will be as important as the result itself. As far as possible, cooperation with theoreticians and specialists from other areas, as well as with external entities, is assumed.

Characteristic of didactic cooperation between the supervisor and the PhD student

The PhD student will actively participate in the didactic initiatives led by the supervisor based on consultations with students, conducting team projects, participatory actions, organizing exhibitions, etc. The following skills and qualifications are expected from a PhD student: critical evaluation of projects, conducting workshops, social needs analysis, conducting practice-based research and teaching based on collective learning. Additionally, the following qualifications are welcome: knowledge in the area of contemporary art & design and artistic methods, ability to work in a team, project coordination, use of new technologies in creative activities, experience in practical user-oriented research, in activities on the border of design and social action, expertise and interest in various areas of art and design discipline, from global exhibitions to pro-social and environmentally friendly installations.
