of prof. Anna Janusz-Strzyż and ass. Tutor Mariusz Gorzelak in The Gallery Lingua - Institute of Foreign Languages.

The works showcased in two classrooms that make up the venue of The Gallery Lingua in the Institute of Foreign Languages are fine art prints executed in intaglio and relief techniques. The drypoint is a dominant technique in the works of prof. Anna Janusz Strzyż whereas the etching prevails in Mariusz Gorzelak`s prints. These prints of different aesthetics and imagery, disclose, however, one common feature. It is the narration and the need to unfold a story, imagined or real, that lie at the heart of these works. Motifs and emblems are interwoven creating unexpected relationships. Mariusz Gorzelak tells us about Polonia and Wonderland, a gloomy Polish backyard with a national flag and a beloved girl. Anna Janusz-Strzyż places portraits of her relatives or friends in mythical landscapes, mystifies and arranges the space of her works provoking a question: are they tourists or pilgrims, friends or fallen angels? It might be an intriguing experience for a viewer to follow the course of these stories.
